Quick thoughts on Monster Hunt.

Decent concept: Earn bonus goodies while doing normal quests / farming.

Reality: Low drops. Surprise ... No hunting badges dropped in Varholm (Day). I then spent about an hour between Cradle of Life and Cradle of Death, came away with 33 badges = 10 draken.

Let's say 30 badges per hour. The first decent reward is the double Simple Gem bags at 350 badges = 11-12 hours of grinding. Oh and a cumulative 70 draken by then, too.

Maybe I was unlucky? Slow? In the wrong map (I'll try a PW map or two tomorrow, time permitting)? Hopefully you'll enjoy a better drop rate.

On the other hand, these are passive, incidental rewards. BP isn't going to make any money off of these throw-away "events" as there's nothing unique to covet (purchase), no realm frag or other key requirements, no amphorae to open, so I have to assume they're trying to actually give back to the player community. Kudos for that, BP.

ADDENDUM: I'm a new Lvl50 Ranger, not particularly skilled nor well-equipped. Did Q3M1 Painful (lowest level) ... took me over a half hour (yes, I'm that weak), got 23 badges. I died trying to kill the end-boss, so don't know if that might have given me a few more badges. I did get a 5x badge drop in a basic mob on that map, so PW apparently has a chance of higher per drop badge volume. Still, I won't make any special effort to complete this non-event, as I do have to sleep and work

 

I just spent 1hr farming. tried q1/q3/lortac maps and in just over 1hr got 42 badges. so even if I happened to be online for the entire duration of event, at that rate there is no chance of finishing.

like you said there might be a particular map where drop is higher so if anyone knows then please say

 

Anyone know use of hunting badge? Are they gonna open a shop selling item with hunting badge? And what is the golden badge reward at 550/550?

 

For anyone who's wondering, badges don't seem to be dropping on event maps. I did 3 runs of varholm because I wanted to get rid of leftover scrolls and 5 runs of blackborg to farm fairy wood. 0 drops in those 8 runs.

 

Did play 6 hour yesterday doing quests ect... 76 badge. i have no idea if its possible to end this event and why making drop this bad...

 

Got a few badges while doing my daily this morning the decided it was too much of a grind for me so went to the beach instead !!!!!
Thankfully spring has sprung and summer is on it's way so good weather good times and less Grindensang by bug.point

If you collect 1/10/50 of those golden badges, you unlock the new titles "monster hunter", "superior monster hunter" and "King of the monster hunters". I don't think they serve any other purpose.

 

Indeed ... they are just achievements.

To all those who are having hard time getting insignia:
PW not always give best drops ... try other maps. There is one killer map that is so easy and rewarding for all endgame players.

I'm I'm interpreting your correctly, this is the same map where you suggest we farm Realm Frags? I ran for 30 minutes, got 23 badges, so, yes that's an improvement, but by about 50%: Essentially 30 per hour in the other maps I tried, but 45 per hour here. That still puts 2 simple gem bags at about 8 hours. On a map with minimal glyph / coin rewards.

Again, I farm more slowly than you, both in terms of my damage and my foolish need to pick up every crappy drop. Let's say you're twice as fast as me: Are you willing to grind on that mediocre map for 4 hour for 2 simple gems when you could be doing dozens of PW boss runs instead?

I just don't see the value for either lower level or end-game players.
