Release 179 Hotfix #2

So... could we possibly know why did this take place? Announcement stated no reason (unless they edit it after I have posted this). I'm asking because it's one of those moments again... so maybe people'd like to know what the wait and 1GB+ download was for (unless some just thought it doesn't concern us, or anything xD).

 

We have been told, this hotfix adds "features" for dev team. Since it has nothing to do with the players or bugfixes there is no need anything to be announced.

The rumor says they have now installed features to track all the cheaters especially withing Leaderboards ...
Now they probably can track : multiple people gangbanging one account/character ... sharing/trading/selling accounts ... bug abuses ... exploiting ... etc.
So people ... stop cheating while not too late ... you all going to be banned.

 

Hotfix to add extra logs/telemetry? Oh boy... The whole "client growing larger" problem is becoming.. well... a problem, because downloading 1 GB of the same content just to add a few kilos of extra data is not a smart strategy. They should come up with some method of determining the necessity and version of each resource or at least pack of resources (I see bundles of 3-5 MB in the folder which sound like a good grouping). That way we avoid having to download gazillions each and every single time... Hmm... can I actually put that as a suggestion somewhere? (I'd definitely like to rephrase and detail it of course)

It used to be less before, IIRC, but now every patch is 1GB+... no matter if it's a big release or a small hotfix...

 

If hotfix adds "features" for dev team why can't be wait next release? Why it is so urgent?
Hotfixs is to patches something wrong in current release...not for implementing new hidden features.

 

Probably to see who is cheating to get the big present.

 

Yeah, um...while it would be a very nice addition to the game I seriously doubt that they will crack down on accounts. Monitoring software yayyy but c'mon, Nov 1 was the "implementation" of the ToS where pushing was supposed to be illegal and it's still going strong in game. And while I support a crackdown on accounts exploiting/cheating/etc.., I don't think DSO has the staff anymore to monitor such activity. They couldn't keep 3 CM's employed and the fabled new CM has never made an appearance. ( *side note* But then after the non stop barrage of demands and questions they had to deal with, I seriously doubt anyone wants to take on a position dealing with the forum participants. Oh and create Twitch streams on top of it all when no one was ever satisfied really with the answers and explanations the CM's gave us. That is a job I wouldn't wish on anyone. *end side note* )
So whatever the devs did, big deal, it didn't affect gameplay so it's a non issue.

 

No more patches and releases this year.
