    Hello Drakensang community! :)

I am new in this game, and this is my first ever post on the forum! I have recently joined Drakensang Online, and I really love this game.

I am playing a Ranger, SpeedYxX.

    This is my Ranger:

As you might have noticed, I am not strong at all, nor understand all the game mechanism properly. So far, just enjoying the game. :)

I came here, writing this post, hoping that more experienced players will give me some starting tips for Rangers, and also, advise me on what stats I should focus on.

Farming different maps, I have noticed that I gain very different item drops, with very different item stats. For example, I got boots with damage, then with health, then with movement speed and so on. The stats I get on my items vary a lot (at least, for now), and it is kind of confusing me on what stats I should focus for each item.
For example, what stats should I try to keep on my hat? Do I want more defensive stats, or more offensive? Or maybe a mixture? What about the rings? So far, mostly getting rings with HP stats, and some very little damage.

Any advise will be much, much appreciated! :)

    Best regards,
    SpeedY

First, try to do your daily quests.
Specially the ones that gives you wisdom. Wisdom is very important and will give you really good boosts.

As you level, in the lower levels, it is more important to have higher damage and faster speed, so you can kill quickly, run fast and so level fast.

Therefore, try to get boots with walking speed, gloves with attack speed, and items with good damage enhancements.

Thanks for the advise! I am doing the daily quests completely, so far so good. :) Manged to get 5 points of Wisdom.

Kind of noticed this too yesterday. Seems that the attack speed is much better on my Ranger, as I find the short bow of a Ranger much better than my long bow.

Will try to find items like this, thanks for the advise!

Thank you for the advises, much appreciated! :)

It is a personal preference. However, most high level rangers prefer the long bow due to the reduction of concentration use. With a long bow, you can use skills more often due to the 20% low concentration use.

It's been said to me that Rangers are best with a high crit hit rate, and so at least rings, amulet, and belt, weapon, and weapon adornment should have high crit hit rate values. A quiver with a high crit hit rate value is a given. That's the more offensive approach because of needing the quiver.

I've spent three years building my character as defense with high damage, or at least trying to, because I wanted to be a solo player for the most part, so I've spent most of the time with a buckler and a longbow and all my gear has some damage value on it. If you're with a group, your best bet is to have some high crit gear available so you can be the DPS guy.

Also learn the art of crafting. There's a method to the madness and I've seen posts about it on the forums here. Those gold numbers you might see are max values and on a legendary item having gold numbers attached to each of the four enchantments is a very good thing. You just have to make sure the enchantments are ones that work for you.

And just like others have said, dive into the forums. That's where I learned a lot of tidbits. The wikia (drakensangonline.wikia.com) can also give you clues and if you join a guild, or are in a guild, talking to other players can give you help in real time.

    Hope this helps.

SpeedY I am sorry that I am using your post to search for answers to my problem but i think it is a better idea than creating new post.
And here it is my problem. How to get my crit rate to 80% after release 185 since there is no more crit rate in belts, rings and amulets?

Get a nice weapon trophy and stuff it full of onyxes so you can make use of the new 'increased critical hit value on this item' stat, you could get 2-4k critical hit from just that item before bonuses are applied from sets such as darkness or karbossa

So... Crit vs damage? I played this a while back and I always went for high damage, and agonised every time I had to change a bow/quiver.
I'm hoping that damage (if you can get it ) on everything and crit on bow, arrows and quiver?

The new meta is for crit damage and crit because rangers have lower damage on their long/short bows (due to being able to equip a quiver or buckler). With sufuciently high crit and crit damage, rangers were near top for DPS (other than the highly broken mechs). Imagine, 3 or 4 of every 5 hits is a crit that hits for 3.5-5.0 times as much damage as usual. It is powerful.

This is a useful thread. Ranger is my favourite class, Adrenline is a useful skill especially combined with dive, to get out of trouble. My best ranger is lvl 37, and all my rangers have suffered from not enough concentration, including Oakhand. I am conceentrationg on this character atm. Adrenaline boosts concentration.
